In-house health and safety inspections of the workplace should be recorded and conducted on a monthly basis or as designated by risk assessment.

Health and safety inspections are normally carried out in the form of a walk around. The purpose of these inspections is to ensure safety practices are being adhered to and record any non-compliance issues.

If any corrective action is required this should be noted and include the name of the person tasked with the responsibility of taking action. Corrective action from the previous inspection should be checked to ensure completion. Any corrective action still outstanding should be noted.

On completion of the health and safety inspection copies of the inspection form or checklist should be issued to all concerned parties.
