From the 1st October 2004 business will have to consider the physical improvement of premises they are responsible for to ensure disabled people are not discriminated against.

This may include:-

  • ·       Access ramps for wheel chair users

  • ·       Installing a disabled toilet

  • ·       Providing clearer signage for the visually impaired

  • ·       Installing an induction loop system for deaf people

The act refers to reasonable adjustments which means making the necessary adjustments at a cost that does not force businesses to go bankrupt. If you do not make the changes you may be open to court action.
