Repetitive strain injury (RSI) is commonly used to describe a number of conditions where the symptom are mainly aches, pains and strains in the upper body of users of display screen equipment. The condition is also known as work related upper limb disorder (WRULD) and categorised as a musculoskeletal disorder (MSD). The condition is caused by bad posture, overuse, and repetition resulting in stress being placed on the body.
Once a user has been diagnosed with an RSI condition by a medical practitioner there are a number of conventional treatments available including physiotherapy, medication and in extreme cases surgery. There are also complementary therapies available including massage, yoga and acupuncture.
