Emergency Lighting:

The emergency lighting system should be regularly tested as follows.

Daily – Check all lamps in a maintained system are lit. Record any faults in the logbook and detail action taken.

Monthly – Energise each emergency light from its battery by simulation of a failure of the supply to the normal lighting for a period sufficient only to ensure each lamp is illuminated. Record any faults in the logbook and detail action taken.

Six Monthly - Energise each emergency light from its battery by simulation of a failure of the supply to the normal lighting for a period of 1 hour. During this period the all luminaries and/or signs should be examined to ensure that they are functioning correctly. Record any faults in the logbook and detail action taken.

Yearly - Energise each emergency light from its battery by simulation of a failure of the supply to the normal lighting for a period of its full duration. During this period the all luminaries and/or signs should be examined to ensure that they are functioning correctly. Record any faults in the logbook and detail action taken.

Check each emergency lighting installation for compliance.
