Control’s website was launched in February 2006 and now attracts
around 10,000 monthly unique visitors. Specialising in health and safety in
an office environment our website is edited and updated
regularly with
both new and improved content.
Originally
featuring an office safety guide and interactive
forms accessed by subscription the site has progressed to include an
online directory and a shop
where related safety products from first aid kits to fire
extinguishers can be purchased.
The
proprietor of Office Control is Steven
Ballard DipSM DipEM MIIRSM MBIFM. Steve has gained experience working
for a blue chip companies as a facilities manager with
responsibilities of premises including commercial offices, education
facilities, call centres and computer rooms. Steve is a member of both the International Institute
of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) and British Institute of
Facilities Management (BIFM).
Part
of the role of a facilities manager is the responsibility of health
and safety at a local level. Ensuring compliance with company health
and safety policy and also compliance with both new and existing
legislation.
An
office environment presents many risks with the obvious being
display screen equipment and fire safety. With new and updated
legislation being added at regular intervals from the disability
discrimination act, fire safety order to the health act (smoking
ban) the website aims
to provide a one stop shop to help companies comply with relevant
legislation.
